The LGMA Food Safety Program: Simplified

Submitted by April Ward on July 25, 2012.

This week the LGMA launched a brand new version of its micro-website www.safeleafygreens.com.  The organization exists to protect public health through mandatory government audits which verify the use of science-based food safety practices on California leafy green farms.  Our main website, www.lgma.ca.gov, provides all the technical details of this complex program; however if you are not a food safety professional you might find all that information overwhelming.

The new safeleafygreens.com was created for audiences who simply want to know more information about the California leafy greens industry and what farmers are doing every day to keep crops safe.  It provides an overview of what the program is and how it works and also includes tips for keeping food safe at home and even a few recipes to try out.    Please take a moment to check it out and let us know what you think.
